Yesterday I read the Men’s Right Activists page on wikipedia and to be honest the idea that men also face sexism IS fair and valid
but
that’s not what most of their points are getting at. Largely, the points these lunkheads raise aren’t just upsetting, they’re scary. There are incredibly misogynist undertones to a number of these issues, and honestly it’s alarming that men, out there really feel this way, really have found this way to reassure themselves that somehow they’re being oppressed, and the increased freedom and equality for women needs to be turned BACK.
The idea that married women can’t be raped because they’ve entered a contract in which they become someone’s property and their consent no longer matters? Even if they’re being abused? As for “consensual sex contract” it enforces the idea that once you agree to sex you are BOUND to it, even if your feelings or inclinations change? Look, this is straight up rapist thinking and I’m having NONE of it.
